Toronto Maple Leafs beat Anaheim Ducks 5-4
The Leafs ended their two game losing streak Friday night with a win over the Anaheim Ducks.
John Tavares scored with just six seconds remaining in overtime to lift the Leafs to victory.
After a whirlwind of a trade deadline Toronto was able to get the win while incorporating their new pieces into the lineup.
The Leafs new met-minder Jack Campbell got the start for Toronto in the win.
Campbell saved 26 of the 30 shots he faced posting a .867 save percentage.
With the win Toronto moves back into 3rd place in the Atlantic Division, a game up on the Florida Panthers.
Auston Matthews scored late in the second period for Toronto giving the sniper 40 goals on the season.
Matthews is now tied for the leagues lead in goals scored with Alex Ovechkin.
Toronto took a two goal lead into the third period at Scotibank Arena Friday night.
Anaheim would score twice in 4 minutes to tie the game up 3-3.
Both teams would add another in the period to finish the third tied at 4-4.
With little happening in the overtime period and Toronto pressing to save a point Leafs captain John Tavares scored with just 6 seconds to go.
The goal was set up from a beautiful feed by Mitch Marner. Placing the puck right on the stick of Tavares allowing him to tip in the o.t. winner.
Ryan Miller saved 29 of 34 shots on net for Anaheim, posting a .853 save percentage.
Goal scorers for the Ducks were Max Jones, Derek Grant, Adam Henrique, and Nicolas Deslauries.
Scorers for Toronto were Andres Johnsson, Auston Matthews, Jason Spezza, and John Tavares scored two goals on the night.
Toronto will have little rest as they now head to Montreal for rivalry matchup with the Canadiens on February 8th.
