Rocked Out In Red Wing Boots
In menswear today, everything is possible, so wearing a sweater or crewneck sweatshirt underneath a suit isn’t out of line. It’s much sexier to mix things up- it makes the suit more casual and elegant, and cooler.
Mixing up textures is one of my favorite things to do-like a wool cardigan with a herringbone jacket, for example-but I always keep things in classic colors. I’ll wear a navy crewneck sweater with my black jacket, or vice versa. I like the color combination of black and navy in New York. I also love the look of a grey crewneck with black pants and a black jacket.

I’ve got to the point where I won’t even wear a suit in a formal way unless I have too. I won’t wear a suit with hard sole leather shoes anymore-it feels like too much. I always wear suits with Retro Sneakers or Red Wing Boots. At the bank, I wear my navy blue suit with a grey crewneck and my white Chuck Taylors. To me that’s perfect.

Who said formals are meant only for certain occasions? Rather than teaming up the same old jacket, bow tie and hard-sole leather shoes, I would love a breather with my Retro shoes and Red Wing Boots. This way, they are fun, crisp, classic yet reflects my incredible thoughts about men’s clothing, which has got everything to do with experimenting.
If you are one of those, who just can’t get enough of their business attires and more often than not walks into a family get-together wearing one, (perhaps suit) it’s time to wear them all over again. Being one of those kind, I have curated a fun-formal look to blend in easily from office to thanksgiving. My closet staple, a United Stock Dry Goods Oxford Shirt looks sharp when paired with the Strellson suit. The cold winds tell me layering would be wise this time of the year, hence a Comme De Garcons Cardigan to add the right amount of texture. Sounds much formal, right? It’s time to bring out your Red Wing Boots, which will be just right in case you are planning for a family hike.
If you are wondering what’s missing, it’s my Russian Cossack Hat, adding the much needed quirk to the outfit. It’s fun to play dress-up, right?
Peace
